Craig Caudill - Director/Chief Instructor

Craig Caudill Sensei started his martial arts training in 1991 as a member of the Eastern Kentucky University Judo team under Ben VanArsdale Sensei. He was introduced to the martial art of Aikido in 1993. Recognizing that he had a deep desire to train in the traditional and martially effective methods of Japanese Budo, he immersed himself in his training throughout the Eastern United States eventually becoming Chief Instructor of Ronin Bushido Aikido, a group of independent Central Kentucky dojos practicing Aikido. He was involved in demonstrations and training throughout several states in both private and agency-sponsored training events. It was in 2001 that his Aikido training under Meido Moore Sensei of the Chicago-based Shinjinkai began. Bluegrass Budokai is now an associate dojo of Shinjinkai.

Donnie Gibbs

Donnie Gibbs Sensei started his martial arts training in 1985 as a member of the Seiei Kan Karate under the instruction of Master Walter Rice and Terry Nolan Sensei. Upon arriving at college he began his training in the martial art of Judo with Ben VanArsdale Sensei and the Eastern Kentucky Judo team. During the summer breaks at college, Mr. Gibbs would assist Charles Ward with self defense classes for EKU employees and students. In 1994, he was introduced to the art of Aikido. In 2002, Mr. Gibbs became the business manager / executive director and senior instructor for Ronin Bushido Karate Club.In September 2005, Mr. Gibbs joined Bluegrass Budokai to assist in providing quality martial instruction in the arts of Judo, Aikido, and Iaido for youth and adults.

Doug Combs

Doug Combs began his martial arts training in 1992 in Virginia Beach, Virginia in Chung Do Kwon Tae Kwon Do under Grandmaster Man Bok Chae, founder and chief instructor of Chae's Tae Kwon Do. Continuing his martial arts study while living in Chicago, he served as assistant instructor to Master In Su Noh, founder and chief instructor of Champion Tae Kwon Do Academy. Upon relocating to Kentucky in 1997, he was introduced to the martial art of Aikido. He was later asked to teach classes at the Ronin Bushido Aikido schools in Lexington. Mr. Combs now continues his study and leadership of aikido at Bluegrass Budokai
