Instructors Biographies: Doug Combs Sensei Overview

Doug Combs began his martial arts training in 1992 in Virginia Beach, Virginia in Chung Do Kwon Tae Kwon Do under Grandmaster Man Bok Chae, founder and chief instructor of Chae's Tae Kwon Do. Continuing his martial arts study while living in Chicago, he served as assistant instructor to Master In Su Noh, founder and chief instructor of Champion Tae Kwon Do Academy. Upon relocating to Kentucky in 1997, he was introduced to the martial art of Aikido under the training of Ronald G. Boyd, founder of the Ronin Bushido Karate Club. He was asked later by Mr. Boyd to teach classes at the Ronin Bushido Hombu dojo in Lexington.

In September 2005 he joined Bluegrass Budokai to assist in providing quality martial instruction in the art of Aikido, while continuing his own personal development through the practice of both the arts of Aikido and Iaido. A brief timeline follows:

Jan 1992 - Mar 1996, Member of Chae's Tae Kwon Do Academy, serving as Assistant Instructor from Mar 1994 - Mar 1996.

Apr 1996 - Jun 1997, Member of Champion Tae Kwon Do Academy. Served as Assistant Instructor.

Sep 1997 - Aug 2005, Member of Ronin Bushido Karate Club.

Apr 2001 - Aug 2005, Served as Assistant Instructor at Ronin Bushido Karate Club.

Aug 2004 - Present, Practitioner of Muso Shinden Ryu Iaido.

Sept 2005 - Present, Assistant Instructor of Aikido at Bluegrass Budokai.
